Monumental sculpture has always been an integral component of public space. The Galerie Klatovy / Klenová aims to build a sculpture park in and around the castle precincts and so to exploit two specific features that distinguish the gallery from similar institutions in the Czech Republic.
The first is its country setting in the beautiful natural landscape of the Šumava Valley, and the second is the fact that it manages the monumental ruin of a medieval castle. We take care to choose and position the sculptures in a way that sensitively enhances the setting of the precincts, and does not overload them with art. The park already hosts the sculptures of Vincenc Vingler, Jiří Seifert, Jaroslav Róna, Václav Fiala and Márius Kotrba.
