Studie mladé sedící ženy, soukromá sbírka
In 2018, it will have been 220 years since the birth of the painter Josef Navrátil, who created some of the best works of 19th-century Czech art. Navrátil's rich artistic oeuvre, which in many ways followed in the footsteps of Czech rococo tradition while also presaging the new realistic tendencies, was unique in its mastery of painting and its unusual colorist sensibilities. Navrátil worked in a diverse range of genres, from landscapes (including many colorful gouaches) to figural works of everyday life (scenes from the theater or from the life of the nobility) and brilliant still-lifes depicting a wide variety of fruits and culinary delights.
The exhibition is being presented in partnership with the National Gallery in Prague.
