Václav Podestát (1960) lives in Kralovice near Pilsen.

Studied at the Institute of Fine Art Photography in Prague (1988) and FAMU's Department of Photography (1994).

Podestát has been photographing since 1978. In addition to artistic documentary work, he is also engaged in applied photography, in particular advertising and photographs of architectural monuments for various publications. He also works as exhibition curator for the Museum and Gallery of the Northern Pilsen Region in Mariánská Týnice, and has taught at the SilesianUniversity in Opava's Institute of Creative Photography since 1997.

His works can be found in museum and gallery collections in the CzechRepublic and abroad.
