Associate professor Milan Perič, Academy of Fine Arts in Prague was born 22 Feb. 1957 inPrague
After graduating from Prague’s University of Economics in 1982, Perič worked in various professions including janitor, building caretaker, and elevator inspector. In 1985, he was accepted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, graduating in 1993 with a degree from Milan Knížák’s IntermediaSchool, where he has been employed as a lecturer since 1995. In 2012, he also wrote his habilitation thesis at this school. He has regularly exhibited since 1986, and is one of the organizers of the Svárov Confrontations.
Perič’s works can be found in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague and the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region in Kutná Hora, as well as in private collections in the CzechRepublic, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
The exhibition “Luther’s Army” presents a selection of works made roughly over the past 10 years. Its focus is on several series of paintings that range from the darkly grotesque to an exploration of more classical themes. Besides paintings, the exhibition also shows drawings, graphic art, objects and installations.
