Academic painter Jakub Švéda was born 40 years ago into an artistic family in Prague. He began his educational journey at the Secondary Technical School of Art in Prague, followed by studies at the Academy of Fine Arts (painting II under professor Jiří Sopek, 1993–1997, and the studio of visual communications under professor Jiří David, 1997–2001). He also studied at the San Francisco Art Institute (1998–1999: New Genres studio, video class, digital media studio) and at the Academia di Brera in Milan (2000).
Švéda works with painting, drawing, light objects, glass sculpture, and design and architecture.
His work has received the graphic design of the month award from Advertising Directory magazine, Cornhill Publishing Limited, London, and he took second place in the Elsa Awards of the Czech Film and Television Academy.
Švéda is the creator of the prestigious film award “Czech Lion”, which is presented every year to the best filmmaker in the Czech Republic.
